College of Health Care Professions Medical Assistant Certificate Program

The College of Health Care Professions (CHCP) offers a Medical Assistant Certificate Program designed to prepare students for a dynamic career in allied healthcare. This 36-week program provides flexible learning options, hands-on training, and a blend of clinical and administrative skills to meet the demands of medical facilities. Graduates are equipped for diverse roles in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private practices.

CHCP offers both blended and fully online formats, allowing students to choose one- or two-day on-campus learning combined with online coursework. Evening and weekend classes are available to accommodate working professionals. This flexibility makes it easier to balance education with personal responsibilities.

The program emphasizes practical skills, such as taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, administering medications, and managing insurance claims. Students also learn to handle electronic health records (EHR) and provide patient care. Hands-on training is conducted at CHCP’s state-of-the-art facilities.

Upon program completion, students are eligible to sit for the Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) exam, demonstrating their competence in the field. CHCP also offers job placement assistance, ensuring that graduates transition smoothly into the workforce. Career services, including resume support and interview preparation, are available for life.

• Scholastic Level Exam score of at least 10 (13 for online program)

The curriculum combines foundational courses and specialized training to build expertise. Students study medical terminology, anatomy, HIPAA compliance, and infection control. Clinical modules cover vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assisting in minor surgeries. Administrative skills include managing medical records, insurance billing, and office procedures.

Students also complete a 180-hour externship, applying their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. This practical experience strengthens their skills and prepares them for certification exams.
